Shimano Ledge Runner Review - Fishing World Australia
Shimano’s Ledge Runner is a new trolling lure designed to target offshore “speedsters” such as tuna, mackerel, dogtooth, mahi, wahoo, coral trout and red bass. The lure is made in two sizes—160 and 200—and is available in floating and sinking versions, with a range of colors. Shimano highlights two key design features: an ADR (Adjustable Depth Range) bib system that lets anglers switch between shallow, medium and deep depths without disconnecting the leader or using split-ring tools, and a Hydro Control Wing intended to keep the lure tracking at faster trolling speeds. It also includes Scaleboost holograms that mimic baitfish scales, plus strong single hooks and a tough body. In a Solomons On The Sauce trip, the 200S models were run along reefs after a 50 km transfer from Papatura to Doyles Reef. The lures produced dogtooth results around 20 kg, though multiple lures were lost to powerful strikes and fights that ended quickly.
