South Dakotans Invited to Leave Their Mark in 2076 Time Capsule

South Dakotans are being asked to submit items for a time capsule tied to the state’s America 250 celebration. The South Dakota State Historical Society and the South Dakota America 250 Commission will collect small, durable objects that reflect life in the state today, with organizers suggesting lapel pins, expired driver’s licenses, laminated keepsakes and fishing lures. The capsule will be buried on November 2 at the USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial in Sioux Falls and opened in 2076. The submission deadline is October 16, and a committee will choose which items go in.
