The love of her life died at sea hunting shipwrecks. Now she's taking the helm

Jennifer Sellitti says her life changed after her partner, Joe Mazraani, died while hunting a shipwreck. After Joe’s death on 29 July 2025, she describes months of intrusive memories and a sense of being overwhelmed. Joe had been a deep-sea technical wreck diver; Sellitti and his crew, Tenacious, ran Atlantic Wreck Salvage, combining maritime investigation with salvage work. Their discoveries have drawn major media attention, including an NBC broadcast interruption by Brian Williams. Six weeks after Joe died, Sellitti returned to the boat and faced a wiring problem when plugging into shore power. Now she is taking the helm of the operation, managing research, expeditions, and outreach connected to victims’ families and survivors.
