Transport Secretary to meet Nats chair amid calls for air traffic boss to quit

The Transport Secretary says she will meet the chair of the National Air Traffic Services (Nats) board “in the coming weeks” as pressure mounts for CEO Martin Rolfe to resign. Rolfe faced renewed scrutiny after a second air traffic disruption in two weeks caused widespread flight disruption on Monday, with more than 170 cancellations. Nats attributed it to a “connectivity issue” at its Prestwick centre in Scotland, and said it was unrelated to an air traffic control software fault on September 8 that led to more than 2,000 cancellations. Heidi Alexander told The Times she had a “full and frank conversation” with Rolfe. Ryanair also repeated calls for his removal.
