Tunisia recovers bodies of last missing migrants from sunken boat

Tunisian authorities have recovered the remains of the last migrants missing after a boat sank off Tunisia’s coast last week, raising the confirmed death toll to 14. The boat was carrying mostly young people, including seven members of the same family, according to the Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights. It also included a man and his pregnant wife. Earlier this week, the Coast Guard recovered the bodies of 11 Tunisian migrants, while one person was found alive. On Thursday, Tunisia’s National Guard said search and rescue operations had ended and the bodies were handed to families. Tunisia has seen migrant departures decline amid a crackdown backed by European support, including funding and modern surveillance equipment.
