What will Mariners' search for a manager look like? Here's what to expect.

The Mariners are conducting an open search for a new manager for the first time in more than a decade, with the last such process dating back to October 2015. General manager Jerry Dipoto didn’t retain then-manager Lloyd McClendon for the 2016 season, but after firing Scott Servais on Aug. 22, 2025, Dipoto moved differently: he hired Dan Wilson as Servais’ replacement without an interim tag, making Wilson the full-time manager. Two weeks ago, that situation changed, leaving Seattle looking for its 22nd manager in franchise history. The article also revisits the hiring of Servais on Oct. 23, 2015, including his 2015 finalist field.
