Alpine's Monaco penalty review request to be heard on Thursday
Alpine's petition for a Monaco Grand Prix penalty review will be heard on Thursday, the FIA confirmed. Pierre Gasly finished third on the road but was demoted to seventh after two five-second penalties for pit-lane speeding at 60.1 and 60.4 kph, when the limit was 60. A virtual hearing will begin at 1300 local time to hear evidence and submissions about whether a significant and relevant new element, unavailable at the time of the decision, exists. If such element exists, a second part of the hearing could follow.
Gasly described the penalties as heartbreaking and said he could not understand why his Monaco podium dream was taken away. The next race is the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix this weekend. Alpine's appeal comes ahead of the Barcelona race as teams navigate the regulation process in Formula One.
