Aston Martin’s 2026 season theme is grinding struggles in Formula 1’s new era as the team heads to Hungary seeking a turnaround. The British outfit is described as the backmarker after a late arrival of its AMR26 car to the first pre-season test and reliability problems in Bahrain that included a lack of spare engine parts. The crisis deepened around the Australian Grand Prix, where an engine-battery shortage and severe vibration concerns left drivers worried. Honda introduced changes to reduce vibrations, but the performance gap kept widening as Cadillac quickly moved past Aston, which sits bottom in the constructors’ standings. At Belgium, the slowest Cadillac in qualifying was just over two seconds quicker than Aston’s best. Aston’s first major chassis upgrade debuts at the Hungarian GP, with a Honda engine upgrade scheduled for the Dutch GP after the summer break.
