Ford Recalls Over 500,000 Broncos For Potential Engine Fire
Ford is recalling 565,691 Broncos sold in the U.S. from the 2021 through 2026 model years due to a potential engine-compartment fire. The issue is linked to the wiring harness: Ford says relative movement between the harness and surrounding components, combined with insufficient abrasion protection, can expose wiring and cause intermittent shorts and arcing. Ford warns that the visible warning signs are smoke from the air vents or a warning message appearing shortly before flames become visible, with ignition expected to start on the passenger side. The investigation began just over a month ago in June, and as of July Ford reported 15 field incidents, including seven involving Bronco Raptor models. Repairs will add convolute sheathing with abrasion tape at no cost, and notices are expected by August 28.
