Bentley unveils its first fully electric car after Ksh59.89B investment

Bentley has unveiled its first fully electric model, the Torcal SUV, after investing Ksh 59.89 billion (£350 million) to upgrade its Crewe, Cheshire factory. The company says the new production line, built inside original 1938 factory buildings, will support 4,000 “high-value” jobs locally. Britain’s Business, Innovation, Science and Trade Department added that Bentley’s supply base—over 700 businesses, including 82 within a 50-mile radius—will strengthen automotive supply chains as the industry faces headwinds, including recent large-scale job cuts at JLR. The Torcal uses an 113kWh battery for up to 375 miles (600km) and charges from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes on a 400kW charger.
