Blaney wins 3-wide battle on final lap of Atlanta OT
Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 in Atlanta after surviving a three-wide overtime battle that was set up by a major late wreck. The Team Penske driver, starting from pole at EchoPark Speedway, captured all three stages and led a race-high 171 laps. He held off Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell on the final lap to take the overtime checkered flag. A rain-and-lightning delay of 3 hours, 9 minutes pushed the race to end at 1:45 a.m. Monday. Blaney brushed the wall with 29 laps remaining after being cut off by Wallace, but his crew chief Jonathan Hassler kept him on track after reviewing photos of right-side damage. Wallace was penalized for passing below the double-yellow lines and finished 29th. Denny Hamlin finished 12th.
