BYD Great Seagull: LiDAR and 9-Minute Full Charge Under $13,000 Launch This Year

BYD has confirmed the 2026 launch of its Great Seagull hatchback and, the same day, opened its 10,000th Flash Charging station—an expansion meant to support faster charging across China. The Great Seagull is a 127-hp model with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and Blade Battery 2.0, estimated to cost roughly $11,000–$13,000 (BYD has not set an official price). BYD says the charging infrastructure can take the car from near-empty to near-full in nine minutes. It enters China by end-2026, with dimensions and performance detailed after BYD filed for a sales license: a single 95 kW motor and 30 kWh or ~39 kWh packs, with CLTC range estimated at 320–420 km.
