BYD offers a closer look at the new Seagull EV [Images]

BYD has released sketches of the second-generation Seagull, described as a larger and more “intelligent” version of its most affordable EV. The Seagull is sold outside China as the Dolphin Surf and Dolphin Mini, with the current model starting at 69,900 yuan (about $10,000) in China—well below new-car pricing in the U.S. BYD says the updated “Great Seagull” is expected to go on sale by the end of 2026. The design preview includes new “trident-shaped” front and rear lights and a refreshed exterior layout. A regulatory filing lists dimensions of 4,205 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, 1,570 mm high, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase, plus a 95 kW (127 hp) motor. Reports also suggest the upgrade will include Blade Batteries and Flash Charging, along with a LiDAR-equipped ADAS.
