Car Crashes Into Northwest Side Dunkin', Forcing Temporary Closure
A Dunkin' restaurant in Dunning will be closed part of Thursday after a vehicle crashed into the building. Shortly after 7:30 a.m., police said a 32-year-old woman driving a Jeep Wrangler attempted to pull into a parking spot at 7171 W. Irving Park Road when her car accelerated forward and struck the Dunkin/Baskin Robbins storefront, causing damage to the facade. The driver escaped injury, but two women inside reported minor injuries and were treated at Resurrection Hospital, where they were released. Dunkin' officials indicated the store should reopen by 6 p.m. Thursday, subject to inspection and any necessary repairs. Police cited the driver for driving with a suspended license, authorities said. The crash disrupted morning traffic on a busy retail corridor and prompted a temporary closure in Dunning. Emergency crews remained on site as investigators documented the scene and assessed structural safety before permitting any reopening. There were no other reported injuries, and investigators did not indicate involvement by other vehicles at the moment.
