Class action follows Britax's recall of kids' car seats
xCruzo Brief
Britax faces a class-action lawsuit tied to its voluntary recall of certain child car seats over a carrying-handle screw that could loosen. Filed Sept. 9 in Chicago federal court by Laukaitis Law and Siri & Glimstad, the suit appears to be the first over the recall and targets more than 114,000 seats from the B-Safe and Endeavours lines. The lawsuit does not claim any children were harmed, but argues consumers paid more for a product they would not have purchased had they known of a possible defect. Lead plaintiff Jessica Kasmer of Illinois says Britax is developing a repair kit, but until it is available the recall offers no refunds and deprives users of a central feature, raising safety risk allegations.
