Driver hurt, brother killed in head-on crash in Philadelphia after attempting to pass double-parked car

The fatal head-on crash in Northeast Philadelphia underscores the dangers of attempting to pass a double-parked car. Police say around 10 p.m. on the 7200 block of Torresdale Avenue in Tacony, an 18-year-old Infiniti driver tried to pass a double-parked vehicle and moved into oncoming traffic. The Infiniti struck a white Nissan van head-on, then spun into a parked car. The Infiniti's driver suffered serious injuries, and his 23-year-old passenger, Darius Santoni of Holmesburg, was extricated and pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly before 11 p.m. The Nissan van driver and a 32-year-old male passenger were evaluated at the scene. The crash investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
