Dutch MotoGP, Assen - Sprint Race Results
Raul Fernandez won the 2026 Dutch MotoGP Sprint at Assen, delivering his second Sprint victory of the season and setting up a Trackhouse Aprilia one-two. Fabio di Giannantonio of VR46 Ducati challenged for victory but finished runner-up behind Ai Ogura, then faced late pressure from title leader Marco Bezzecchi. Bezzecchi, who had a fourth Sprint DNF at Brno last week and was banned from the subsequent grand prix for striking a marshal, extended his championship lead after teammates switched momentum, while Jorge Martin faded to fifth. The Sprint was run on medium front and soft rear tyres, with Aprilia taking four of the top grid positions. After starting order shifted at Turn 1, Fernandez took the lead from Martin at the end of lap 3, while Bezzecchi ultimately secured fourth. Marc Marquez finished sixth early before dropping back after Pecco Bagnaia recovered. Pedro Acosta continued KTM struggles and dropped to 14th. The article also notes Jorge Martin won pole for the Sprint, and Pecco Bagnaia was fifth in qualifying for a “best of the rest” start.
