Engineer names two most reliable car brands in the world - not Audi, Ford or Honda - AOL

Engineer David Chao, with more than 35 years in the automotive industry, says the two most reliable car brands currently are both Japanese: Subaru and Mazda, in that order. In an interview on the Car Help Corner YouTube channel, Chao ranked several manufacturers by reliability from best to worst, placing Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and Porsche in the next tier down (“A”) and groups such as Nissan, Hyundai, Kia and BMW in “B.” Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors, Ford and Tesla were put in “C,” while Stellantis was last in “D.” Chao said Toyota’s NPI (new product introduction) process is among the best globally and Honda’s engineering is “world-class.” For Mazda, he praised manufacturing and engineering capability after auditing exterior quality of the Mazda CX-5, but cautioned it may not automatically translate into long-term reliability. He similarly highlighted Subaru’s collaboration with Toyota.
