Fabio di Giannantonio has "major chances" of solving recent MotoGP issues in Misano
Fabio di Giannantonio says he and his VR46 team have “major chances” of fixing the issues that have hurt their MotoGP form ahead of the home San Marino Grand Prix at Misano on 13 September. After starting the season strong, he averaged 19.3 points over the first six rounds, but his points rate dropped to 13.1 across the next seven weekends. The Aragon Grand Prix was especially difficult: he lost time Friday for lack of “feeling,” struggled with rear grip on Saturday and crashed out of the sprint. Sunday brought some optimism after VR46 changed the bike, yet he finished seventh, behind returning Gresini Ducati rider Fermin Aldeguer. Di Giannantonio believes the team finally understands the speed problem and hopes Misano can deliver a more consistent weekend. With nine races remaining, he sits fourth, 48 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin, after a 54-point swing over three weekends.
