Florida has rejected a $200 million plan to expand electric-vehicle chargers statewide, saying the money should instead support an “aerial highway network” of eVTOL flying taxis, according to documents reviewed by the Miami Herald. The Florida Department of Transportation argued it “will not waste taxpayer dollars” on everyday passenger vehicles and claimed the state has the country’s second-highest number of EVs, but still doesn’t meet the nationwide average of chargers per vehicle.
