Romanian carmakers Dacia, Ford stop production until Aug 19 as power crisis looms-PM

Romanian carmakers Dacia, owned by Renault, and Ford have temporarily halted production until August 19 as Romania faces electricity supply problems, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said Monday. The firms agreed to voluntarily reduce power consumption amid the power crisis. Bolojan added that the companies’ decision already cut about 200 MW from the country’s power demand on Monday morning. He said other businesses would also be encouraged to lower usage voluntarily. The announcement highlights how supply-side disruptions are now affecting manufacturing schedules, even as the broader grid challenges persist.
