Geely pushes 1,000-volt EV tech as Lynk & Co goes from 10% to 80% in 5 minutes

Geely is pushing for faster EV charging with a move from 800-volt systems to a planned 1,000-volt EV architecture paired with megawatt-class chargers. In a trial highlighted by Interesting Engineering, a Lynk & Co 01 reportedly went from 10% charge to 80% in 5 minutes and 32 seconds, and reached 97% from 10% in 8 minutes and 42 seconds. The report notes the vehicle’s pack is labeled as a nominal 772.8-volt rating—placing it in the 800-volt class—while charging tests showed power bursts peaking at 1,100 kilowatts on a Zeekr charger and 430 kilowatts on a BYD Flash station, without sustaining peak throughout. Real-world results depend on battery temperature and how the charge curve tapers. Geely is also planning solid-state battery testing for 2027.
