India Petronet in talks with Qatar for delivery of delayed LNG cargoes
xCruzo Brief
India’s Petronet LNG is in talks with Qatar to secure deliveries of delayed LNG cargoes, its CEO A.K. Singh said on Nov 2. Qatar is Petronet’s largest supplier under a contract for 7.5 million metric tons annually (about 9–10 cargoes per month). So far, 75–80 cargoes have been delayed by the Middle East war, and another 15–16 shipments were not delivered in 2015–16 due to pricing disputes. QatarEnergy has extended force majeure until year-end. Deliveries can run up to April 2029, but Petronet is seeking earlier supply as Indian demand rises.
