Jeep scraps two EVs in Europe, but three new SUVs are on the way
Jeep is scrapping two planned electric models for Europe and the UK—the Recon EV and the Wagoneer S—while confirming three new SUVs are coming instead. A Jeep spokesperson told AutoExpress that challenging market conditions and the cost of developing for right-hand drive would make the cars unviable given small sales projections. The company had previously intended to expand the Recon, which went on sale in the U.S. and Canada last week, into Europe and the UK across 2026, but that plan has changed. Jeep also said the new flagship SUV will be built in China through a joint venture with Dongfeng, using the Chinese automaker’s platform and technology for overseas sales. The flagship will offer hybrid and pure-electric powertrains and may also be offered as a REEV. Two additional smaller B-segment SUVs will sit below the Compass, both underpinned by Stellantis’ new STLA One platform integrating STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and steer-by-wire.
