Jorge Martin declared unfit for Australian GP after suffering fracture in sprint
Jorge Martin will miss Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix after breaking his forearm in a high-speed crash during Saturday’s MotoGP sprint at Phillip Island. Less than two hours after the race, Aprilia said the Spaniard suffered a fracture of the radius and a suspected distal fracture of the ulna, with further examinations needed to determine the full extent. The team added that Martin had already been declared unfit for the grand prix. Martin crashed out of second place on lap 8 while battling Marc Marquez, sliding into the gravel at about 180 km/h before being taken on a stretcher to the circuit medical centre. The retirement flipped the title standings from leading by two points to trailing Marquez by 10, a 12-point swing. Marco Bezzecchi finished fourth for Aprilia.
