Made to be a used car": How to buy a bargain Audi Q5
xCruzo Brief
The second-generation Audi Q5 (2017-2025) is positioned as a strong used-car buy thanks to its build quality, refined ride and efficient powertrains. Based on Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, it became larger, roomier and lighter than the previous model, while gaining updated safety and infotainment tech. Two 2.0-litre engines dominate: a 249bhp 45 TFSI petrol and a 187bhp 40 TDI diesel, both with Quattro four-wheel drive and an S tronic dual-clutch automatic. The 2021 facelift added mild hybridisation, boosting output to 261bhp and 201bhp. The petrol targets about 40mpg, the diesel up to 55mpg, while higher-performance variants include plug-in TFSIe and V6 diesels.
