Man charged with murder after hit-and-run near San Francisco playground
A pedestrian struck by a truck near a San Francisco playground died, and police say the alleged driver now faces murder charges. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 at the intersection of Moscow Street and France Avenue next to Crocker Amazon Playground Park. Police records state a 43-year-old man was in the crosswalk when he was hit. Investigators say the driver slowed down, looked back at the victim, then fled. License plate readers helped locate a suspect vehicle about 3 miles away, and a 29-year-old San Francisco man was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol. Prosecutors added second-degree murder after the victim died on Oct. 18. The suspect was arraigned Tuesday, Oct. 27, as the district attorney sought no bail.
