Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC Draws 700 Pre-Orders in Korea as It Targets BMW on Home Turf

Mercedes-Benz says South Korean buyers have placed more than 700 reservations for the Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC, a result it frames as proof its platform—not just price—can win premium customers. The figure, reported on August 27, 2026, comes as the luxury automaker tries to regain ground from BMW. The Electric GLC is priced above ₩90 million (about $65,300), in a market where Tesla and Chinese rivals have been gaining attention for affordability. Mercedes-Benz Korea said the reservations are the first real-world signal for its all-new MB.EA electric architecture, featuring an 800-volt system and silicon carbide inverters, supporting up to 330 kW DC fast charging. Mercedes expects a 10-to-80% charge in about 22 minutes.
