MotoGP keeps Qatar GP on track after meeting with teams in Malaysia
MotoGP says it has seen no new information that would justify changing next week’s Qatar Grand Prix, despite rider concerns over going to the Gulf during the war against Iran. Officials met teams in Malaysia on Sunday after the race at Lusail International Circuit was moved to November 6-8 from April due to regional conflict escalation. MotoGP management reviewed assurances from the State of Qatar, the circuit, relevant embassies, and independent experts, concluding that assessments still warranted no change to current plans. Qatar guaranteed teams would not be stranded if the situation escalates. All teams except Yamaha have committed to travel, after a Japanese advisory urged non-essential trips. FIM will decide any rider penalties for non-attendance.
