Raul Fernandez stormed to victory in the MotoGP Sprint race at Mugello
Raul Fernandez secured his first MotoGP Sprint victory of 2026 at Mugello, dominating proceedings from the opening lap. The Spaniard grabbed the holeshot and led into the first corner, pushing Jorge Martin and Diogo Moreira back as he pulled clear on the run to Turn 2. By the end of the opening lap, Fernandez was followed by Martin in second and Moreira in third, with the pole man slipping to sixth before regrouping. The Aprilia rider then stretched his advantage as Martin closed in late, but Fernandez remained unthreatened to take the chequered flag comfortably. Martin finished runner-up, while Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the podium after a patient, late surge.
Bezzecchi finished fourth, with Marc Marquez recovering to fifth after an unsettled start and a late overtake on Moreira on lap seven. Di Giannantonio completed the podium in third after overtaking Moreira on lap three, while Moreira slipped to tenth and missed the points. The top five was rounded out by Bezzecchi and Marquez, confirming an Aprilia-dominated Mugello Sprint as the field heads into the main Grand Prix on Sunday. Fernandez’s performance underscored his growing consistency this season, and the Italian circuit again highlighted Mugello’s speed and overtaking opportunities as the race weekend progresses.
