Elfyn Evans brings it home at home

Toyota Gazoo Racing dominated FORUM8 Rally Japan, sweeping the top four places on Super Sunday and taking the Wolf Power Stage as Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin sealed their second win of the season. The pair delivered a six-stage Sunday with a steady rhythm, extending their championship lead to 20 points and highlighting the GR Yaris Rally1’s strength on asphalt. Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais finished second, while Sami Pajari and Marko Salminen claimed their fifth podium of the season in third. Takamoto Katsuta moved to fourth after winning SS16 on Friday, signaling a continued challenge for Toyota’s tarmac program. Oliver Solberg and Elliot Edmondson re-entered the rally to win two stages and captured both Super Sunday and the Wolf Power Stage, earning ten points from the weekend. In WRC2, Nikolay Gryazin took the victory after Alejandro Cachón spun and clipped a tree, and Yuki Yamamoto earned his maiden WRC2 podium for Toyota’s development program. The weekend reinforced Toyota’s overall performance on Japan’s asphalt and kept Evans’ title bid very much alive heading into the next events.
