MotoGP Italian GP: Marco Bezzecchi leads Aprilia front-row lockout
Marco Bezzecchi led an Aprilia front-row lockout for the Italian Grand Prix, delivering a strong home‑race showing at Mugello after Catalunya’s surprise. Bezzecchi posted a Mugello lap record of 1m43.921s to top the timesheets, with Raul Fernandez and Jorge Martin completing the front row. Ai Ogura was the sole Aprilia rider to miss Q2, finishing 13th, while an all‑Ducati second row formed behind them with Aldeguer, Bagnaia and Marquez. VR46’s Di Giannantonio could only manage seventh after a late bike change in FP2, with Moreira eighth on the grid as the best‑placed Honda rider.
Qualifying 2 cemented Bezzecchi’s pole as the benchmark, and the front row underscored Aprilia’s resurgence on the Mugello layout. Ogura’s Q1 exit left him 13th, while the second row featured Aldeguer, Bagnaia and Marquez aboard Ducati machinery. Di Giannantonio, after switching bikes late in FP2, qualified seventh, with Moreira eighth and Morbidelli ninth; Di Giannantonio’s result reflected the late-bike decision. The grid sets the stage for an intensely contested Italian GP as Aprilia seeks to capitalize on home‑track momentum.
