Nissan plans to make hybrids its “primary powertrain” in North America by 2030, betting on gasoline-electric models as both EV demand and fuel-price expectations shift. At a Sept. 28 briefing at Nissan’s global headquarters, U.S. Americas Chairman Christian Meunier said Nissan will push hybrid vehicles aggressively, aiming for hybrids to represent 30% to 40% of its Rogue-segment sales “very quickly,” while Toyota and Honda set the pace. The strategy includes localizing production of the Rogue e-Power in 2028, bringing an e-Power version of the Kicks crossover around 2028, and adding V-6 hybrid options on a body-on-frame truck lineup launching with the XTerra SUV.
