Ogura out of Aragon GP following Japan crash that left him in need of surgery

Ai Ogura will miss the Aragon Grand Prix after a hand injury sustained in Japan during training. The American Trackhouse MotoGP team said the Japanese rider suffered a fracture near his left thumb following a crash near Tokyo, and that surgery is scheduled for this Thursday. Ogura’s withdrawal also threatens his title challenge: he returned from Japan with the injury and had already lost points after a crash at Silverstone last Sunday. Ogura currently sits third in the standings, 37 points behind leader Jorge Martin. Trackhouse confirmed Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori will replace him at MotorLand on 30 August.
