Porsche's Carrera S Gets Its Stick (Shift) Back

Porsche is bringing back a six-speed manual for the 911 Carrera S in North America, a notable reversal as the industry continues moving away from stick shifts. For the 992.2 generation, the manual option is exclusive to North America and offered with the Carrera S’s 473-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six. It comes only with rear-wheel drive, in coupe and Cabriolet body styles, as part of an “MT Package” that also bundles rear-axle steering, PASM Sport suspension, and center-lock wheels. Porsche says pricing starts at $167,100, with deliveries expected around the holidays. The company frames this as a niche response to demand concentrated largely in the U.S., following the manual’s disappearance at the 2025 model-year launch.
