Rivian Recalls Almost 99,000 Electric Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Software Issue

Rivian is recalling 98,828 electric vehicles (trucks and SUVs) in the U.S. after filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration cited a rearview camera software issue. The company says the image may “not properly display” in some situations when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. NHTSA warned the problem could “reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle,” increasing crash risk. The affected vehicles were manufactured from 2021 to 2026 and may show a notification blocking the camera image. Rivian will address the issue with a free software update, already applied to most impacted vehicles. The company reported no related customer accidents or injuries.
