Russell pinpoints Red Bull's biggest strength ahead of British Grand Prix
George Russell said he expects Red Bull to be the key threat ahead of the British Grand Prix after narrowly winning a race in Austria. Russell beat Max Verstappen by 1.6 seconds last week, but he said Red Bull could have closed more if Verstappen had stayed in immediately after Russell’s second pit stop. Verstappen recovered after restarting 11 seconds behind, closing the gap during the second stint before fighting back again. Russell also suggested that Ferrari likely did not show its full potential in Austria due to power unit overheating issues. Speaking to GPblog on Thursday, he added that the battle for performance is tight, citing that Lando Norris could have won in Miami and Lewis Hamilton won in Barcelona, while Verstappen was right behind in Austria. Russell’s comments came as Verstappen again questioned the single-yellow-flag handling after his qualifying crash at Turn 9 in Austria, which allowed Russell to lift off but still set pole.
