An on-duty Russellville crash on U.S. 50 left a motorcyclist in critical condition late Thursday night, shortly after 8 p.m. The unidentified 57-year-old rider, aboard a 2015 Honda Gold Wing, reportedly lost control and was ejected without a helmet. Jefferson City police responded to the westbound stretch near the tri-level, and the rider was life-flighted to a Columbia hospital, where he remained in critical condition Friday morning.
The crash prompted a temporary lane closure on westbound U.S. 50 for about an hour while investigators collected evidence. No other injuries were reported and investigators have not yet ruled out alcohol or speed as factors. The incident remains under investigation as authorities gather witness statements and review surveillance footage and ongoing investigations.
Authorities have not released the rider's name, and no additional injuries were reported.
