SoCal teen's e-bike getaway thwarted by cool-headed cop who narrated chase: 'I would stop if I were you'
A Southern California teen’s attempt to escape on an e-bike was thwarted after Orange County officers shared video of the pursuit and intervention. In the incident, a motorcycle officer narrated the chase while warning that the rider’s parents would soon be informed and that the teen could be identified because “your face is on camera.” The confrontation ended with the rider cited for nine violations and the motorcycle impounded after police brought the getaway to a stop. The department said the alleged infractions included evading an officer, fleeing, unsafe riding in a city park, operating without license plates, riding without a helmet, lacking required driver and motorcycle licensing, failing to carry insurance and registration, and not having mirrors. Police described similar enforcement focus on e-bike behavior, noting that Tustin had announced tighter rules the prior week, including limits on speed in parks and pedestrian areas and bans on riding against traffic.
