Stellantis bets on small affordable EVs for European comeback

Stellantis used the Paris Motor Show’s opening gala on Sunday to signal a comeback in Europe, pitching a new push of low-cost “e-cars” meant to challenge cheaper Chinese rivals. CEO Antonio Filosa unveiled six of the nine concepts the group is bringing to Paris, alongside production models, including a Citroën revival of the iconic 2CV. The retro concept previews a European-made low-cost EV expected in 2028 and the company’s first step for Europe’s new e-car category. International debuts include the DS7, Fiat Grizzly, Lancia Gamma, Opel Corsa GSE and Leapmotor models B03 and D19. The strategy aims to counter years of falling market share while investors look for proof of sustained recovery.
