Tesla sets new sales record in Australia amid EV boom

Tesla posted its best monthly sales result in Australia for June 2026, with both the Tesla Model Y and the Tesla brand reaching record figures, according to Electric Vehicle Council data. The company delivered 8,670 vehicles in June, up from its previous monthly record of 6,433 set in May and nearly double its June 2025 result of 4,589, an 88.9% year-on-year increase. Through mid-2026, Tesla had 23,588 deliveries, up 66.7% versus the first half of 2025. Model Y accounted for 93% of June deliveries, with 8,072 units sold to Australian buyers, up 133.5% year-on-year. The Model Y L, a six-seat variant, supported the performance and set a mid-size EV SUV record, surpassing 5,605 deliveries in May. Meanwhile, Model 3 deliveries fell again to 598, down 47.2% year-on-year. BYD’s Sealion 7 led second place by end of May with 7,786 deliveries.
