Tesla (TSLA) Stock Gains as NHTSA Closes Model 3 and Model Y Steering Probe
Tesla’s stock rose as U.S. safety regulators closed a steering-related probe affecting some Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ended an engineering analysis covering about 376,241 vehicles from the 2023 model year. The investigation began in July 2023 after reports that some owners lost steering control or found steering effort unusually difficult, and it was upgraded to an engineering review in early 2024. NHTSA’s move follows Tesla’s early-2025 recall of about 376,000 U.S. vehicles tied to power-steering assist failures. Tesla said the company handled the issue via an over-the-air software update. TSLA shares gained 1.22% on Friday, closing at $379.71, while analysts tracking the stock show a Moderate Buy consensus.
