The Ford Escape will return as an EV based on the UEV platform
xCruzo Brief
Ford ended Escape production last year after a 25-year run, but the compact SUV is set to return as an electric vehicle built on the company’s new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform. Ford is preparing to launch the Fathom as its first UEV model in 2027, and the Escape is expected to follow as a second UEV-based vehicle. The final gasoline Escapes rolled off the line at Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant as the plant retooled for the electric pickup. Ford Authority says the all-electric Escape should stay close in size to the outgoing model (180.1 inches long, 74.1 wide, 66.1 tall; 106.7-inch wheelbase) and enter production in 2029 at Louisville.
