These Are the World's Two Most Modified Cars by Far

A new Accu study, based on Reddit activity, names the world’s most discussed and modified “project cars.” Researchers analyzed more than 197,000 posts and 2.31 million comments to rank models by how frequently enthusiasts discussed modifications. The study says Ford dominates project car conversations, with 2,423 total mentions, representing 16.39% of all mentions of makes or models in the dataset. Chevrolet follows closely with 2,374 mentions and 16.06%. Toyota is third, with 839 mentions (5.68%), while Pontiac ranks fourth with 631 (4.27%) and BMW is fifth with 615 (4.16%). The report frames “project cars” as hobby vehicles bought to restore or modify over time rather than as daily drivers.
