These EVs retain their battery best, largest-ever study finds

A new large independent study suggests some electric cars are holding onto battery health far better than others in real-world use. Austrian diagnostics firm AVILOO tested more than 500,000 battery measurements across 20 popular EV models, spanning up to 150,000 km (93,000 miles). Using physical pack measurements, it calculated median state of health (SoH) at 50,000, 100,000, and 150,000 km. At 150,000 km, the Mercedes EQA leads with 94% median SoH, followed by the Hyundai IONIQ 5 at 93.8% and the BMW i4 at 93.6%. The Nissan Leaf, MINI Cooper SE, and Renault Zoe posted the lowest results. The report warns rankings rely on medians, not the exact car you buy.
