Toyota's new EVs are catching on as registrations jump 225% in April
Toyota’s electric-vehicle momentum is accelerating as April registrations surge 225% to 3,524, expanding the lineup beyond the updated bZ4X overseas version, the C-HR, and the new bZ Woodland. Toyota dominated early EV sales, with the bZ lineup outselling rivals like the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Chevy Equinox EV, and Ford Mustang Mach-E in Q1, and posting over 10,000 bZ units in that period. New data from S&P Global Mobility shows April’s EV registrations totaling 3,524 for Toyota, with Lexus RX registrations up 107% to 1,341. The broader market fell 9.8% year over year to 89,147, while Toyota continued to lead brands in April, ahead of BMW, Kia, and others. Later this year, Toyota and Lexus plan three-row electric SUVs, which could boost future growth amid upcoming Rivian, Lucid, and BMW models.
