USMNT projected September-October roster: Pochettino takes on new era

U.S. Men’s National Team planning for the post-2026 World Cup cycle is already taking shape after Mauricio Pochettino agreed to an extension through the 2030 World Cup. The team’s first four matches after the 2026 tournament fall within the expanded September-October FIFA window against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada. Ahead of a projected roster release Thursday, Sept. 17, Pochettino is expected to balance continuity with new looks, using the four-game stretch to give minutes to nearly everyone. The projection includes World Cup goalkeeper returnees like Matt Turner, alongside potential starts for Brian Schwake, plus defender and midfielder call-up candidates from MLS.
