Volvo's plug-in hybrid XC60 and XC90 can really go the distance
xCruzo Brief
Volvo says its refreshed plug-in hybrid XC60 and XC90 are now its first “long range” PHEVs, targeting much higher battery-only capability. The automaker announced class-leading EPA-tested electric ranges of 78 miles for the XC60 and 73 miles for the XC90—more than double the electric range of earlier PHEV variants. Volvo is also redesigning the vehicles’ power delivery, including larger batteries (41.2 kWh gross, 37.9 kWh usable) and a floor-integrated battery layout inspired by its EVs. Styling updates include refreshed headlights, bumpers, grille, and a Gemini voice assistant. Production starts late fall 2026, with deliveries in early 2027.
