Volvo trademark reveals EX50 EV name: Here's what we know so far

Volvo trademark filings are pointing to the company’s next electric vehicle name, the EX50, with the U.K.-facing rollout still tied to future confirmations. Volvo filed an EX50 trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on July 14, 2026, specifying that the model would be electric, though providing no additional technical details. In its most recent quarterly earnings update, Volvo said it plans to reveal two new electric models by the end of summer, both reportedly targeted for Europe and possibly the U.S. Automotive News reports they are rumored to be an electric sedan and wagon, potentially arriving in U.S. showrooms as early as 2028. Both are expected to use Volvo’s SPA3 platform, which underpins the EX60 and features an 800-volt architecture, cell-to-body design, and faster charging. Volvo’s September 17 strategy update is expected to provide more specifics.
