JJ Wetherholt powered the St. Louis Cardinals past the Kansas City Royals, keeping their season alive in a wild 12-10 Sunday game in Kansas City. Wetherholt smacked two home runs and drove in three runs, including a leadoff shot and another two-run blast in the second. Masyn Winn added a three-run homer in a five-run first inning, while Ivan Herrera hit a three-run homer in the fifth to put St. Louis ahead 12-7. The Royals, who trailed 9-2 after two batters, rallied with Nick Loftin and Jac Caglianone hitting two-run homers to make it 9-6. Caglianone’s 444-foot drive extended his streak to three games, and he homered again in the ninth. Gordon Graceffo earned the win as St. Louis used seven relievers after starter Dustin May allowed six runs in two innings.
